6/24/2023 0 Comments The Hallo-Wiener by Dav Pilkey![]() ![]() ![]() Listed below is information, questions, and ideas to help you with your lesson, BUT if you don't want to create anything, don't worry I have created a wonderful packet to use with this book. This is a wonderful book for creating a lesson, whether it be on bullies, what it is to be brave or a simple skill or strategy lesson. The dogs are so surprised and happy to be saved they thank Oscar by giving him all their candy and they tell him how brave he is, he is their "Hero Sandwich"! Oscar doesn't think twice, he attacks the monster, revealing their true identity and then jumps into the pond to save the other dogs. Oscar finds that a large monster has scared the other dogs into the pond. ![]() Oscar, being the kind, caring dog that he is goes to see how he can help. As the night goes on poor Oscar has no candy and is ready to head back home, sad and disappointed, when all of a sudden, he hears the other dogs yell for help. The other dogs, in typical bullying behavior, howl with laughter when he comes out to trick-or-treat. ![]() To make things worse his mother got him a very embarrassing costume to wear for Halloween, but of course he doesn't want to hurt her feelings so he wears the costume. Oscar is a very caring dog that is loved dearly by his mother and teased endlessly by his peers. This book is the perfect book for October, not only is it a Halloween book but the underlying theme is bullying, which we all know that October is National Bullying Prevention month. ![]()

6/24/2023 0 Comments Pride of baghdad graphic novel![]() ![]() Lost and confused, hungry but finally free, the four lions roamed the decimated streets of Baghdad in a desperate struggle for their lives. In the spring of 2003, a pride of lions escaped from the Baghdad Zoo during an American bombing raid. ![]() ![]() The experience is made all the more evocative by the lush, spectacular artwork of Niko Henrichon. Now, in this provocative graphic novel, Vaughan examines life on the streets of war-torn Iraq. Vaughan has displayed an understanding of both the cost of survival and the political nuances of the modern world. In his award-winning work on Y: THE LAST MAN and EX MACHINA (one of Entertainment Weekly''s 2005 Ten Best Fiction titles), writer Brian K. From one of America''s most acclaimed comics writers - a startlingly original look at life on the streets of Baghdad during the Iraq War inspired by true events. ![]() 6/24/2023 0 Comments Finding alexei by kendall ryan![]() ![]() Rather than believing he processes emotions differently due to being autistic, he concludes that he's defective and decides to avoid romantic relationships. Well, he feels irritation when people move his things or contentment when ledgers balance down to the penny, but he doesn't experience big, important emotions like love and grief. Read my review of Red, White, and Royal Blue. Soon Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret romance with a surprisingly unstuffy Henry that could derail the campaign and upend two nations and begs the question: Can love save the world after all? Where do we find the courage, and the power, to be the people we are meant to be? And how can we learn to let our true colors shine through? What at first begins as a fake, Instragramable friendship grows deeper, and more dangerous, than either Alex or Henry could have imagined. Heads of family, state, and other handlers devise a plan for damage control: staging a truce between the two rivals. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with an actual prince, Henry, across the pond. Handsome, charismatic, genius-his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. ![]() When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. ![]() 6/24/2023 0 Comments David mitchell utopia![]() ![]() Pepper’ s Lonely Hearts Club Band for the first time, and Levon marvels, “ Wow. Songs often follow narratives, and albums sometimes do in one scene, the members of Utopia Avenue listen to Sgt. This makes for a highly schematic structure that doesn’t do the novel any favors. ![]() Elf, Dean, and Jasper write most of the tracks, so most of the chapters are told from the point of view of one of these three, but Griff and Levon provide the lyrics for one song apiece and get chapters accordingly. Each chapter takes the title of a song and recounts the events that inspired that song. Each of the novel’s six parts represents one side of the band’s three LP records. It ends in San Francisco during the autumn of ’68 with a tragic but utterly random catastrophe. The band begins in London, as a musical blind date engineered by Levon Frankland (himself from The Bone Clocks), who is here a nattily dressed Canadian clearly modeled on Beatles manager Brian Epstein. The overarching plot of Utopia Avenue is one long climb. An irony of Mitchell’s work is that the more overtly he strives for fantasy, the less magical his fiction becomes. ![]() ![]() "Habitation" by Margaret Atwood at the back where we squat outside, eating popcorn The language is simple yet evocative, putting a strong metaphor in the reader’s mind and facilitating a deeper understanding of Arnold’s feelings. The book spends a great deal of time on the kidnapping and murder of Charles, Jr., which was of course devastating to Charles and Anne. ![]() Their courtship, marriage and world-wide travels are all chronicled. ![]() The book is almost as much about Anne Morrow Lindbergh as Charles. Charles popularity waned as the country entered World War II due to his political views, and was then somewhat restored in later years. This was not an easy adjustment for someone who valued privacy and was very suspicious of the press. Berg makes a great case that, for a period of time, Lindbergh was the best known and probably most popular person in the world. Relatively little time is devoted to his flight across the Atlantic itself, but the book covers the world-wide adulation he received in great detail. The book covers Charles' fascination with flight and how he became an aviator. Lindbergh's father was adamantly against the country getting into World War I, and Lindbergh would later advocate similar views for the "America First" movement before World War II. It tells the whole story of Lindbergh's family since immigrating to the U.S., and covers Lindbergh's somewhat odd childhood, as the only child of a somewhat out-of-touch lawyer and Congressman from Minnesota. This is, as others have said, the definitive Lindbergh biography. ![]() 6/23/2023 0 Comments Write Better by Andrew T.
